I grew up in Hampshire, Illinois, a small town tucked within the cornfields of the midwest. I was raised with a love for trains, cars, and videogames, and when I was given my first camera, I quickly developed a passion for video editing and design on my family's Windows XP desktop. Throughout highschool I was the friend known for taking photos for the yearbook, editing papers in the English room, and winning free prom tickets for submitting shirt designs. Stories of my dad's engineering job and years of being captivated by Star Wars inspired me to learn more about technology - computers in particular - and I decided to become an engineer from an early age.

At UIUC I met new friends from around the country and exchange students from around the world. As an 18-year-old whom had hardly left my hometown, I was overwhelmed by what else the world had to offer. I made it my goal to meet new people, open myself to new jobs, and to put more value in experiences rather than things. Since then, I have learned more than I ever imagined from both my coursework and my outside life.

I have a passion for learning and knowledge sharing. Aside from my coursework, I spend my free time writing technical articles, editing photos and videos, and travelling to new places.

For two summers I worked as a software intern for GE Global Research in upstate New York. There I assisted in writing tutorials for the software being developed and contributing content to the new internal site. During my REU research position I was able to learn the basics of ROS and begin work on the bibliography portion of a graduate dissertation. This semester I am studying abroad in Copenhagen at the Technical University of Denmark.

While engineering has always been my dream, I see myself as both a student and a teacher of technology; my goal is to be able to use the things I learn to support new breakthroughs in tech, spreading knowledge to a variety of different people in different ways.
